Joseph Arthur Kopenhafer Obituary
Joseph Arthur Kopenhafer, 91, formerly of Euless, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, in Pearland. Service: at a later date at the family gravesite in Little Rock, Ark. Joe was born in Elroy, Wis., the oldest son of Harley and Rose Kopenhafer. He was a tech sergeant in World War II. While training in Texas, he met Betty Ginnochio, whom he married. They became life-partners for 66 years, until her passing in 2012. During the war his awards included the Purple Heart. Afterwards, he earned a degree in dairy science, followed by several positions in the industry. In 1965 he moved the family to Euless. They were actively involved in church and community programs. Joe was an avid gunsmith and wood carver. In 2012, Joe moved to Pearland to be close to his youngest son and family. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings; and son, Jay. Survivors: His siblings, John (Laurie), Rosemary Pliner, Elizabeth O'Reskie and James (Linda); sons, Jim (Fran), Tom (Donna), Mark (Karen) and Gerry; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
