Joyce Diane Brown Obituary
Joyce Kniprath Brown, 76, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at an Arlington hospital. Memorials: Gifts may be made to Worldwide Orphans Foundation at www.wwo.org. Joyce was born Sept. 5, 1936, in Beloit, Wis., to Jane and Edward Kniprath. Despite her Yankee birth, Joyce considered herself pure Texan. She moved to Arlington during high school and remained in Texas throughout most of her life. Joyce attended the University of Texas at Austin before marrying Jack Brown, a local TV news reporter known for his segments, "Jack Brown's Texas." Together they raised two children, Craig and Colleen. Joyce's joys in life were many: reading, traveling, beautifying her homes and trading stories with family and friends. She was a sucker for anyone who could make her laugh. Joyce traipsed across Europe, road-tripped on a Harley Davidson, and filled her homes with art and antiques. Much of her art was created by her second husband, Ed Brown. Whether lakeside or in the suburbs, Joyce's heart lay in the country. She delighted in the hummingbirds and lizards who shared her land, and encouraged her grandkids to chase fireflies, gaze at the stars and catch fish. Survivors: Mother, Jane Kniprath; son, Craig Brown; daughter, Colleen Only; son-in-law, Jimmy Only; grandchildren, Matthew and Alina Only; and her dog and buddy, Jolly.
