Katherine J. Thompson Obituary
Katherine J. Thompson, 54, lost her courageous battle with ovarian cancer, passing away peacefully at her home Monday, Dec. 2, 2013. Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday at University Christian Church, Fort Worth. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Memorials: National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, 2501 Oak Lawn Ave. #435, Dallas, Texas 75219. Kathy was passionate about breaking the silence regarding ovarian cancer. She led her team, Kakki's Krew, in the NOCC walk in September and participated in a promotional video for the Joan Katz Breast Cancer Center at Baylor All Saints. Kathy taught for 29 years, 13 years in the Ennis ISD at Sam Houston Elementary and 16 years in the Arlington ISD at Amos, Remynse and Goodman elementaries. She was a TSTA representative for the Arlington ISD. She was preceded in death by her parents, Urby Joe Thompson and Anna Lee Thompson. Survivors: Sisters, Martha Gothard (Glenn) and Marian Nelson (Kenny); brother, Tom Thompson (Jacquie); nieces, Lara, B.J.(Ryan), Blair (Nick); nephews, Steven, Shawn and Cody; great-nephew, Brayden; and beloved dog, Baxter.
