Leo Jimenez Obituary
Leo Jimenez, 83, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, surrounded by his family. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Iglesia Bautista Getsemani Church, 4755 North Freeway, Fort Worth, Texas 76106. Leoncio "Leo" Jimenez was born April 28, 1930, in Taylor. He was an entrepreneur in the tortilla business establishing Leo's Foods, Inc. in North Fort Worth in 1978. After 35 years of walking the production lines everyday and leading a strong work force he retired as CEO/president of Leo's in 2009. During his career as a tortillero, he was recognized as Business Man of the Year by the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 1998, and then in 2005 he was inducted into the Tortilla Industry Association Hall of Fame. He was a member of Getsemani Church, Tabernacle Lodge 1195, Fort Worth Scottish Rite and the Moslah Shrine. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 until 1953 in the Red River Arsenal in Texas. Leo never sought recognition for all his talents; his generosity was felt by many whose lives he touched. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Alejandra Jimenez; brother, Raul Jimenez; brother-in-law, Richard Gutierrez; and nephew, Raul Jimenez, Jr. Survivors: His loving wife, Sule Jimenez; children, Danny Vasquez, Sandra Vasquez and husband, Jaime, Felix Jimenez and wife, Jana, and Juanita Flores; sister, Delia J. Gutierrez; sister-in-law, Mary Q. Jimenez; and he was "Papaw" to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
