Lester Paul Shields, 67, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in Lynn Creek Cemetery, Jacksboro. Burial will be private. Lester was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1946, in Crosbyton to Herman Truett Shields and Lois Geneva Lester. He married his sweetheart, LaJuana June Goodson, on Dec. 6, 1969; they were soon to celebrate their 43rd anniversary. Lester, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, was a lifelong comedian and jokester who never met a stranger. He served a tour in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from a career in the milling industry with Cargill in June of this year and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be missed by his loved ones more than words can express. Survivors: Wife, LaJuana; oldest daughter, Betsy Jenkins and husband, Ron; middle daughter, Melissa Shields; youngest daughter, Stephanie Nelson and husband, Randall; and grandchildren, Curtis, Colbie, Randall, Brandon, Kameron, Sara, Hailey, Elvis, Gracie and Lylah.
