Luther Daniel "Dan" Prescott Jr. Obituary
Luther Daniel "Dan" Prescott Jr., 69, passed away suddenly Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday at University Christian Church. Memorial visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the University of Texas College of Liberal Arts, the Humane Society of North Texas or a . Dan was born Sept. 3, 1944, in Washington, D.C., to Luther D. and Pauline B. Prescott. He was a graduate of R.L. Paschal High School, where he served as student body president. He continued his education at the University of Texas where he excelled in Plan II, was foreman of the Texas Cowboys and a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Upon graduating from the University of Texas Law School, he joined the Houston law firm of Butler & Binion. He went on to become general counsel of the Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association in Washington, D.C. It was during this time that he met and eventually married the love of his life, Emmy Lou Gaul. In 1978, Dan returned to Fort Worth as vice president of government relations and public affairs at Champlin Petroleum Co., which later became Union Pacific Resources Co. Following that, he formed his own consulting firm, The Prescott Co., and was semi-retired at the time of his death. He was currently serving as a life member of the University of Texas College of Liberal Arts Advisory Council. He was a member of Shady Oaks Country Club and City Club and had been a former member of the Steeplechase Club. Survivors: Wife, Emmy Lou Prescott; sister, Paula Prescott Cioffi; nephew, M.O. "Tim" Rife IV and wife, Rhonda, and their sons, Tyler and Carson Rife; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gaul and Kimberly Gaul Morgan; and his wonderful, loving companion, Duffy.
