Maisie Garrison Obituary
Maisie Leola Smith Garrison, 89, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ridglea Baptist Church. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Born in Chicago, Maisie graduated Ball High School in Galveston. During the war, she worked as a secretary for the Army, then studied journalism at the University of Texas where she met and married I.V. They moved to Fort Worth where Maisie was a homemaker and mother. She was active in the PTA, volunteered as a Cub Scout and Camp Fire Girls leader, and taught Sunday school at Ridglea West Baptist Church. Maisie enjoyed painting and quilting, and loved being a grandmother. Survivors: A longtime Fort Worth resident, she is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Ira V. Garrison Jr.; children, Connie and James Wood, James and Carolyn Garrison, and Debbie and Bob Taylor; grandchildren, Allison Bailey, Robert Wood, Garrison Taylor and Lauren Garrison; and four great-grandchildren.
