Margaret Ann Summy Obituary
Margaret Ann Summy, 74, passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Celebration of will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at University Christian Church, 2720 S. University Drive, Fort Worth. Memorials: Memorial donations may be made to Mary Crowley Research Center or Vitas Hospice. Margaret was born Sept. 28, 1939, in Corpus Christi to Ms. Natalie Sue and E.B. Rich. She was a graduate of Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth and often reminisced of her wonderful experience as a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at the University of Texas. After bringing up her family, she continued her education at Texas Christian University where she obtained both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in counseling. Margaret and her husband and life companion, William B. Summy Ph.D., built a successful Family Therapy Practice where they focused on assisting people with eating disorders, anger management issues and other maladies; both always working together for the betterment of those around them. A special thanks to Dr. Robert L. Ruxer and Dr. Mark F. Collins for their compassionate care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Natalie Sue and E.B. Rich. Survivors: Her loving husband, William B. Summy, Ph.D.; daughter, Myra L. Buis and her husband, C. Al Buis; son, Mark R. Matthews and wife, Amy K. Matthews; grandchildren, Natalie B. Hessing and husband, Ryan S. Hessing, Lauren A. Matthews, Allison W. Matthews, Olivia M. Buis, Kaitlyn R. Pettibone and Mallory R. Matthews; brother, Thomas M. Rich and wife, Paula, both of San Antonio; and several lovely nieces and nephews. Margaret's life and memories will also be remembered and treasured by her close friends.
