Mary Madeline Edholm Obituary
Mary Madeline Edholm, 90, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, in Greenwood Memorial Park. Mary was born Jan. 22, 1924, in Woonsocket, R.I., and was the youngest of two daughters born to the late Heliodore Joseph and Mary Teresa Gagnon. Mary graduated from high school in 1940 as the salutatorian of her graduating class of 250 students. She then went on to Brown University and graduated at the age of 19 during World War II. She also received an AMLS from the University of Michigan in 1968. Mary was a journalist and began her working career in Boston for Badger & Browning. During that time she also did freelance work for agencies and her copies appeared in magazines across the country, such as "Vogue" and "Town and Country." Mary left Boston to marry then Capt. Robert Morris Edholm on May 11, 1946, and then resided in Dayton, Ohio. Later on in life, her husband took a job at Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth. Mary loved to travel and continued to do so even after her husband's death. She also did book reviews for the Star-Telegram for 15 years as well as for other newspapers. Mary was involved in groups and organizations such as the Fort Worth Modern Art Museum, Amon Carter Museum, the Woman's Club of Fort Worth and the Women's Shakespeare Club. Survivors: Son, Phil Edholm; and granddaughters, Kristin and Catheryn.
