Morris Tillman Obituary
Morris Tillman, 85, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Celebration of life: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth, 1000 Penn St. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Mount Olivet Chapel, 2301 N. Sylvania. Morris was born Feb. 6, 1929, in Hot Springs, Ark. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Denver, Detroit and Newfoundland, Canada, before moving to Fort Worth. He attended Southern Methodist University and was an electronic design engineer with Tritronics Labs, General Dynamics (Lockheed) and Howell Instruments before retiring. He married Betty Baker on March 19, 1976, and devoted himself to her and provided for her the rest of his life. He loved to fix things, create and build things, and enjoyed the outdoors. After his retirement, he and Betty enjoyed travel throughout America, to Europe and China, fishing in Alaska and Canada, and spending time with their family. He and Betty were longtime members at First Presbyterian Church and its Westminster Class, and he enjoyed Thursday breakfasts with the men from the class. He volunteered as an usher and served with Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels. He was most happy, though, fishing for trout and salmon or hunting deer and dove. Though the deer and fish won't miss him, his friends and family loved and cherished his love of life, his sense of humor and his appreciation for God's creation. Survivors: Wife, Betty Tillman; children, Doug Tillman of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and David and Julie Tillman of Aledo; extended family, Dan and Janet Baker of Greenbelt, Md., Mike and Mary Baker of Wichita, Kan., and Becky Baker of Cleburne; and grandchildren, Harrison, Brendan, and Tristan Tillman, Chandler Tillman, Brandon and Lexie Riester, and Matthew, Thomas and Joseph Baker.
