Ray Lawrence McCloud Obituary
Ray Lawrence McCloud, 92, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, in Fort Worth. Graveside service: 11:15 a.m. Wednesday in DFW National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood. Ray was born and raised in Knoxville, Tenn., to Herman and Martha McCloud. He received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tennessee. After graduation, he worked for Monsanto Chemical Company in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He then attended Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth where he earned his bachelor of divinity degree. While attending seminary, he started working at General Dynamics. Ray retired from General Dynamics in 1980 after 30 years of employment. Ray was a decorated B-25 pilot during World War II. After the war, he re-enlisted in the Air Force Reserve for 17 years, retiring in 1971 as a lieutenant colonel. Ray met Dorothy "Dottie," his wife of 63 years, in Knoxville where they were married in 1952. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Marie McCloud. Survivors: Wife, Dorothy; children, Russell "Rusty" McCloud and Melissa "Missy" Solorzano; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
