Robert Kellogg Hudson Obituary
Robert Kellogg Hudson, formerly of Midland, died Friday, March 28, 2014. Service: Private memorial services will be held at a future date. Bob Hudson was born March 15, 1922, to Rodney L. and Helen Fox Hudson in Pocahontas, Iowa. He graduated from Northwestern University, where he prepared for his law career and served as president of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. During World War II, he served as a pilot in the Navy. Bob married Sadie Tillman of Menard on Sept. 4, 1948. He began his career at First National Bank of Chicago, then moved to Midland in 1958 to join the law firm Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy and Laughlin. His children Helen Carol and Robert Scott were born in Chicago; his daughter Nancy Clark was born in Midland. In 1974, Bob joined the newly formed Cotton, Bledsoe, Tighe, Morrow and Dawson law firm, where he remained until his retirement. Bob loved the Midland community and was especially proud of its performing arts, museum and Midland College. His volunteer efforts included service to many civic and community organizations. Throughout his life, Bob valued being outdoors to play tennis, hunt, camp and appreciate God's creation. He also enjoyed entertaining and loved to dance. In retirement, Bob and Sadie spent much time on their Hamilton County place where he savored all things ranch, friends and family. After Sadie's death in 2011, Bob moved to Fort Worth to be near his children. He formed new connections in Fort Worth with others whose care and friendship enriched his final years. He received excellent care at Stonegate Nursing Center where his last days were brightened by attentive aides and nurses, chief among whom was "Emma." Survivors: His children, Helen Pierson and husband, Don, of Fort Worth, Scott Hudson and wife, Jimmie, Nancy Wilson and husband, Steve, of Dallas; grandchildren, Sarah Clark Pierson and Robert Woodrow Hudson; stepgrandsons, Patrick Lee Wilson and Michael Gregory Wilson; sisters, Virginia Farquhar of Fresno, Calif., and Margaret Rastetter of Essex, Conn.; and treasured nieces and nephews.
