Steven D. Tipps Obituary
Steven D. Tipps, 60, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He fought a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Moncrief Cancer Institute (for oral, head and neck cancer), 400 W. Magnolia Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76104, or the Humane Society of North Texas, 1840 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76103. Steve was born June 15, 1953, in Corpus Christi to D. Conway and Suzy Tipps. He was a 1971 graduate of Arlington Heights High School and held a bachelor of science degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. He was also a certified medical representative from the CMR Institute. Steve was very passionate about his sales career. He took great pride in his work and success as a pharmaceutical representative for 33 years. He developed strong relationships with his teammates and customers. Steve excelled in every sport he challenged. He was a dedicated horseman, who started riding at the age of 9. He began showing Palomino Quarter horses at the 1966 Fort Worth Fat Stock Show. He competed for six years on the state and national level. During that time, he was an active member of 4-H, Texas Palomino Exhibitor's Association and Palomino Horse Breeders of America. He was an avid cyclist, logging thousands of miles every year. He competed in the Hotter-N-Hell for 19 years and the Triple Bypass in Colorado. His other passions included swimming, snow skiing, golfing, hunting and tennis. Steve was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: Steve is survived by his wife, Helen, of 33 years; family member, Maria; sister, D'Anne and her husband, Richard; niece, Lauren; sister-in-law, Jeannine Knight; brothers-in-law, Yves (Nicole), John (Valerie), Normand (Jackie), Denis (Noreen), Noel and Geatan Mailloux; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family.
