William R. Gardner, a retired medical doctor, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2014. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. Private family interment in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials in lieu of flowers, may be given to W.R. and M.A. Gardner Music Fund at First Presbyterian Church, 1000 Penn St., Fort Worth, Texas 76102, or a . William Robert Gardner was born June 16, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Stearns and Mary Lou Gardner. He graduated from Oklahoma City University, Baylor College of Medicine and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Survivors: His wife of 55 years, Mary Ann; children, Mary Catherine Patterson and husband, Dan, Russell Gardner and wife, Bobbie, Laurie Dirks and husband, Mike, Amy Landers, John Gardner and wife, Maria; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Sue Forrester, Walter Gardner, Helen Gardner and Bennett Gardner.
