James Messick

James Messick, age 83 of Murfreesboro, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013.

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Murphy and Eudie Fox Messick. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Sammy Messick, Homer Glenn Messick, Murphy Messick, Jr., S.P. Messick, John Messick, and sister, Irene Messick Pipkin.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with Brother Danny Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, with family and friends serving as Pallbearers.

Mr. Messick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wanda Lewis Messick; two sons, Steven Messick and his wife Teresa, and James Messick, all of Murfreesboro; five grandchildren, Eric Messick, Christina Messick, Samantha Messick, Candice Messick and Lindsay Messick; a great-grandson, Connor Messick and his sister, Odelle Mankin of Normandy.

Mr. Messick was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was retired from M.T.S.U. and from Avco. He was also a member of Mars Hill Lodge #129, Christiana, Tennessee.
