Mamie grew up in Nashville, attended Ward-Belmont High School and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1943 where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Following graduation, she married Lynwood Herrington. She was a wonderful mother to her eight children and devoted wife to her husband.
Mamie especially enjoyed the times when her sizeable family were all gathered together. She also developed her talent for painting throughout her life and was an active member of the Tennessee Art League where she served as president of the organization for several years. Her paintings were entered in many juried art shows throughout the state. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Centennial Club, Shadow Hills Garden Club and Belle Meade Country Club. She will be missed by her family and those she touched with her beautiful spirit.
Our family is especially grateful for the devoted love and care given to her during the last few years by Mrs. Dianne Delancey of Utah, and recently by Mrs. Yolanda Davis of Nashville. We would also like to express our thanks to the palliative care team at Aspire Health and to Alive Hospice for their care during her final days.
