John William "Billy" Eves Sr., 77, son of the late Willie "Polly" and Frances Johnson Eves, died on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013. He started his career as a machinist with the Federal Government and retired from NASA as an Engineer Technician with over 35 years of service.  Billy received several patents but most notable was the patent on "The Seven Hole Pitot Tube" which was tested on Hyper-Sonic jets. John was a member of Salem Baptist Church. John loved the outdoors and that was evident by his enjoyment of saltwater fishing and his early years of hunting in Weeksville. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ruby Creef Eves; one son, John W. Eves Jr. of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Frances Williamson of Hickory, and Shirley Cutts of Tifton, Ga. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 15, 2013 in Peninsula Memorial Park with his nephew, Dr. Henry "Bootsie" Parker officiating. Memorial donations may be made to .
