Jacqueline Cox Lawler

Carrell ("Cari") Jacqueline Cox Lawler, born on December 29, 1960 in Torrance, CA, passed away on May 4, 2012 at the age of 51. She grew up in Palos Verdes Estates, CA and attended Rolling Hills (now Palos Verdes Peninsula) High School. After graduation, she attended the University of Southern California, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and earned a degree in broadcast journalism in 1987. After working part-time for the Daily Breeze during college, she became one of their full-time journalists and soon married Frederick Lawler, an electrical engineer from Arlington, Virginia, in 1989. Over the next few years, she scaled back her journalism career and became a teacher at both the middle and high school levels in order to raise two young daughters. She had lived in the South Bay, primarily Palos Verdes, Torrance, and Lomita, for most of her life. She is loved by students of all ages and will be remembered as a loving, caring, and very intelligent educator, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend. Known for her garden filled with many flowers, particularly sweet peas and roses, her creativity, her needlework/sewing, her humor, her cooking, and her extremely caring and selfless nature, she is and will be tremendously missed. Her death is both sudden and heartbreaking. She leaves behind two daughters, Andrea (20), a USC student, and Julia (16), a high school student, and her beloved friends and family. Her service will be on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Lawrence Martyr Parish in Redondo Beach. The family invites all who would like to honor and celebrate her life to attend the service. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
