Charles W. Amico
Charles W. Amico, a 39-year resident of Rancho Palos Verdes passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Keck Hospital of USC in Los Angeles after a two and a half year battle with cancer. Chuck was born in Los Angeles on September 9, 1940, to Giuseppe and Melia Amico and was raised in the Crenshaw area. Chuck was the youngest child of three - his brother Joe and his sister Maria. He attended Transfiguration Grammar School, Loyola High School and UCLA. After graduating from UCLA he worked in sales for Xerox where he met his wife Heidi (Quade) Amico of 47 years. Chuck and Heidi started a family right away and lived in Pasadena California, Salt Lake City Utah, and Pittsburg Pennsylvania, before eventually moving back to California in 1975 and residing in Rancho Palos Verdes until his recent passing. After returning to California, Chuck began a 25-year career with Union Bank until his eventual retirement in 2001. He loved and played sports such as baseball, basketball and football growing up, but came to love and enjoy playing paddle tennis with friends at the Jonathan Club in Santa Monica. Chuck also enjoyed his daily tennis matches with friends at the Peninsula Racquet Club in Palos Verdes. His greatest love by far was his seven grandchildren; Caleb, Hannah, Josiah, Micah, Austin, Avery and Talia. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife Heidi Amico; sons, Chad (Kelly) Amico of Ventura, CA and Brad (Paige) Amico of Scottsdale AZ; and seven grandchildren. He loved his family more than life itself and was the most supportive, encouraging, generous person a family could ever want - Chuck truly was a gift from God!!! His Memorial will be held at King's Harbor Church on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 11:00 am; which is located at: 23915 Garnier St. Torrance, CA 90505. In lieu of flowers the Amico family requests donations be made to The Young and Brave Foundation.
