Charles R. Edwards, Jr.
Chuck passed away peacefully on September 14, 2013 at the age of 84. He was born on December 5, 1928 in Los Angeles, California to Raymond and Amelia Edwards. He attended George Washington High School and served in the United States Marine Corps prior to serving as a Gardena Firefighter. In 1983 he retired from the fire department with 25 years of service with the rank of Fire Captain. He was an active member of American Legion Post #170, California State Firefighters Association, Gardena Elks Lodge #1919, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10166. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara; brother, Jack; and sisters, Raye and Jane. Chuck is survived by his sons, Larry (Sue), Mike (Linda), and Chuck (Lori). He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Ryan (Elaine), Brennan (Courtney), Brad, Blake (Sarah), Kaitlyn, and Lauren; and six great-grandchildren, Keagan, Evan, Emery, Logan, William, and Timothy. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Belmont Village, Rancho Palos Verdes, and Torrance Memorial Hospice for their loving care. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10:00 am at Ascension Lutheran Church, 26231 Silver Spur Road, Rancho Palos Verdes. A light lunch will be provided at the church following the service.
