Donald Wallace Koch
December 12, 1940 -
July 12, 2013
Don Koch passed away unexpectedly while waiting for a gelato on vacation in Aruba. His zest for life took him on world travels and local haunts, searching for the next great adventure and meal. Born in Minneapolis, MN, Don soon became a California boy, graduating from Hollywood High. He put himself through UCLA, earning a BA in economics. As a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Don began his career as a stockbroker at EF Hutton, then Drexel Burnham & Co. Moving to commercial/industrial real estate development, he worked at Cabot Cabot & Forbes and Cadillac Fairview. Don retired from Overton Moore & Associates as marketing director in 2000. His wife Gayle, son Matt, daughter Claudia, son-in-law Frank Godinez, and his grandchildren Ella, Brad, and Luke all put a twinkle in his eye. Don touched many in his 72 years: his brother Jack and family, his school days, career, his sober community, his church, and his hunting/fishing buddies. He is loved and will be missed. Don's life will be celebrated on Saturday, August 24, 2013, 11AM, at Baycities Community Church, 2043 Lomita Blvd., Lomita. If desired, donations may be made to Gratitude Retreat Foundation, 1729 Cabrillo Avenue, Torrance, CA 90501 or Baycities Community Church Lomita.
