Mary Ellen Cox
Mary Ellen Cox, long-time resident of Redondo Beach, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 24, 2013. She was 91. Mary Ellen was born on December 10, 1921 in Monrovia, CA. She attended Pasadena City College and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles. She married Paul C. Cox in 1943, and in 1950 they moved to Redondo Beach. She served faithfully alongside Paul, the Pastor at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church for 38 years. She is survived by their four children James (Sandra), David (Robin), Thomas (Mary), and Brian (Hilary), fifteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. She worked at the Redondo Beach Library for 22 years. She taught Bible studies through Presbyterian Women, and participated in PEO and South Bay Republican Women. She was a caring person, had a wonderful sense of humor, and enjoyed her many friends. Mary Ellen loved reading, playing Bridge, traveling, attending plays, and following UCLA sports (Go Bruins!). After Paul's retirement she attended St. Mark's Presbyterian Church where she continued her involvement with Presbyterian Women and teaching Bible studies. A service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Redondo Beach on Tuesday June 18, 2013 at 2pm. A reception follows in the Fellowship Hall.
