Michael Edwin Porter

Michael Edwin Porter passed away on the morning of August 6, 2014 peacefully in his home. Michael was born on January 22, 1953 in Torrance, California to James and Marjorie Porter. He was a resident of the South Bay area for most of his life. He attended Redondo High School. He also served our country in the Navy and was on the USS Engage Minesweeper in the Vietnam War. Also, Mike was an incredible welder and metalworker.

He is survived by his parents, James and Marjorie Porter of Evansville, Indiana; as well as his two daughters, Tisha (Steven) Short, Kristie (Jason) Sutton of Wendell, Idaho. He is also survived by one sister, Pam (Dave) Schaefer of Evansville, Indiana and one brother, Pat (Annette) Porter of Torrance, California. He had been blessed with five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife and soul mate, Karen Porter.

Mike will be sorely missed by all family and friends and those who loved him for his gentle kindness, friendliness, honesty and that great big smile.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Elks Lodge at 412 E. 200 S., Jerome, Idaho at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 30th for a Celebration of Life. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
