Paul Eugene Reams
Dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on October 24, 2013. Paul was born in Washington DC on September 25, 1921, spent his early years in the southern US, and relocated with his mother Catherine and sisters Catherine (Kit) and Yniv, to Redondo Beach, CA in 1928. Paul graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1939. Following in his father Paul Sr.'s footsteps, he enlisted in the Coast Guard after Pearl Harbor and served during World War II in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean, and South Pacific. In 1948, Paul married Dorothy Michalek and they were blessed with five children: Greg (Susan), Dave (Jill), Kath Hansen, Laurie (Mike) Paolozzi and Valerie (Chris) Lorenson. Dad was an industrious and multi-talented craftsman who could fix anything. In addition to personally designing and building a family room/bath for our home, he maintained the house, started recycling anything and everything before it was called recycling, and repaired about every appliance and widget known to man. Dad was a constant resource to his children, grandchildren, and neighbors on Paulina Avenue where he resided from 1952 until his passing. Paul was employed by General Telephone Co. in Redondo Beach and Santa Monica for 36 years, retiring in 1983. He was a resident of Redondo Beach for 85 years. Paul is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy, their five children, ten grandchildren: Erica, Amanda, Karen, Matt, Allison, Paul, Max, Katie, Sarah, and Kevin, five great-grandchildren: Zachary, Caden, Harper, Declan, and Ethan, and numerous nephews and nieces. Dad will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched in the community. Family services will be held. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
