Peter Bezelj passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, October 9th,, 2013 at the age of 91. He is survived by his nephew - John Bezelj, niece -Yvonne Marinkovich, cousins, God-children, and many friends. He was born on December 12th, 1921 to parents Marin and Ivana in Chicago where he spent his early childhood along with his brother, John. Soon after, Peter and his family moved to Komiza, off the coast of Croatia. In his teen years, he returned to Chicago. At 21, he was inducted into the United States Army. He spent much of his service in Europe during World War II as a Surgical Technician. Among his many honors, he received a Purple Heart on April 3rd, 1945 when he was wounded in action in Germany. After his military service, he moved back to Chicago for a short period of time before moving to San Pedro, California. In San Pedro, he worked for StarKist where he met his wife, Vesela, whom he married in 1968. Peter lost his wife in 2010. In the following three years, he spent time with family and friends who will always remember him for his kindness, warmth, goodness, and generosity. May God bless him.
