Richard A. Donnelly, Sr.

Richard Donnelly passed away on February 16, 2013. He was born to Roy and Mabel Donnelly on September 20, 1930 in San Pedro, CA and graduated from San Pedro High School, UCLA, and UC Berkeley School of Law, Boalt Hall. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War and before becoming an attorney was a member of the ILWU, working as a cargo supervisor. He practiced law in San Pedro, where he served as president of the Harbor Bar Association, Los Angeles, Long Beach and Orange County, before retiring in 1997. He was predeceased by his son, Richard A. Donnelly, Jr., and is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Katherine Sakmar, M.D.; son, John Donnelly and his wife, Alexandra; daughter Mary Donnelly; grandchildren, Conor Donnelly and Charlotte Donnelly; and brother, Jean Donnelly. He will be remembered as a loving husband and a devoted father and mentor to his beloved children. Private services were held.
