William Bomersback of Lomita went home to be with his Lord on March 21, 2013. "Willie" was born on December 22, 1917 and was raised in Hammond, Indiana during the Great Depression. He played football, ran track and was on the wrestling team in high school. He stayed active for most of his 95 years. He enlisted in the army and was stationed in Hawaii prior to Pearl Harbor. He was reassigned to Fort MacArthur two months before WWII began and fell in love with the South Bay. He never returned to Indiana but married his sweetheart and lived in Lomita for almost 75 years. His wife, Lucille preceded him in death in 1977 as well as his son William Jr. in 1955. He was successful in both his professional and personal life. He was a jack of all trades selling life insurance, owning an excavating business, was a landlord and general contractor. He worked for the US Post Office for 30 years and his crowning achievement was becoming Postmaster of San Pedro. He was quite the dancer and won many awards and performed on the Lawrence Welk show with his wife in the 50's. He had a contagious smile and a gentle manner and was loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his four children, Sandy Liggett of Olympia, WA, John T. Bomersback of Oceanside, Sunny Honsinger of Lomita and Jodi Dominick of Clifford PA. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 12 Great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Lomita. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes. These services will be for both William and his beloved granddaughter, Crystal E. Pagan.
