Edward Iwersen Obituary
Ed (Teddy or Eddie) was born Nov. 9, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska to Marcella Ann Iwersen and Dr. Frank J. Iwersen. He spent most of his youth in Omaha attending Holy Cross grade School, and Regis High School. He continued his education at Regis College in Denver, Colorado and graduated from Creighton University where he met his wife, Diane Wiedman. They had two sons, Eric and Andrew. Ed and Diane moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1977. In Boulder, Ed started and operated a specialty retail store, Logos and Labels on the Pearl Street Mall and began a lifelong career in fitness and aquatics programs in Omaha, Boulder and Tempe, Arizona. Ed continued his work at health clubs including Flatirons Athletic Club (Boulder) and the Village (Phoenix, Arizona). Ed was a great athlete and loved to bike, swim and hike. He competed in triathlons for years and climbed mountains all over the West. He enjoyed football and baseball and attended many College World Series Baseball games. He was a coach and a teacher, and an entrepreneur. He was full of adventure, loyalty, stories and love. He was a friend, a husband, brother, uncle, father and grandfather. His family wrote: "He died in the remaining days of summer in the sunshine of Arizona. His last moves on Earth were in the pool, swimming laps. He was equally strong, sensitive, and funny even more. He was a large personality that we all wanted to know. He lived his life entirely uniquely and we were lucky to know and love him. He was the real deal of genuine living. We loved him very much and will carry his influence with us everywhere." Ed is survived by his siblings, Jim Iwersen of San Francisco, California; Larry (Teri) Iwersen of Kalispell, Montana; Kim Iwersen of Seattle, Washington; Matt (Kathy) Iwersen of Bellingham, Washington; Bob Iwersen of San Francisco, California; his sons Eric Iwersen (Josh Meibos) of Tempe, Arizona; Andrew Iwersen (Morgan) of Westminster, Colorado; and his grandchildren, Van and Mac Iwersen of Westminster, Colorado. Ed was an Arizona organ donor. His kidneys were used to save two other lives. Ed was cremated. A Memorial will be held on November 2, in Omaha Nebraska at Holy Cross Church at 1:00PM with a brief gathering following. Pending Memorials will be held at a later date in Boulder, Colorado and Tempe, Arizona.
