George Choun Obituary
George L. Choun died April 2, 2013 at the Peaks Care Center in Longmont. He was 91 years old. He was born March 28, 1922 in St. Joseph, Missouri to George R. and Louise (Stewart) Choun. George graduated from high school in Chicago, Ill. He honorably served his country during WWII as a member of the United States Coast Guard. He married Doris (Dotty) Linton in Cambridge, MA on September 15, 1945. Together they came to Boulder, CO where George attended the University of Colorado 1946-48. They spent the next 12 years in Concord, MA, returning to Boulder in 1960, and moving to Longmont in 1996. George was an architectural draftsman. He worked for several architectural firms and for the University of Colorado. From 1972 until his retirement in 1985, he was an administrator for the Boulder Valley schools maintenance department. He was currently a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont, and formerly a member at Atonement Lutheran and Mountain View United Methodist churches in Boulder. George was also a member of Boulder Lodge #45, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. He enjoyed woodworking, 4wheeling in the mountains and traveling with friends. George also enjoyed his horses, square dancing, and building furniture. George is survived by his wife, Dotty of Longmont, three children James (Nancy) Choun of Fort Collins, Stephen (Carol) Choun of Forest City, NC and Barbara Cruikshank (Robert Edwards) of Colorado Springs, CO., eight grandchildren Keller (Jeanne) and Eric Choun; Caitlin (Daniel) Goforth and Davis Choun; Travis, Bryan (Stacey), and Kevin Cruikshank and Erin (Josh) Edwards and four great grandchildren: Madilyn and Henry Choun, Declan Edwards, and Logan Cruikshank. A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1000 15th Ave., Longmont. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
