John Slepicka Obituary
John Lee Slepicka passed away at his home on June 8, 2014. He was 79 years old. John was born on the family farm in Ashland, Nebraska on February 2, 1935 to John and Elizabeth (Leuman) Slepicka. He was raised and worked on the farm until asthma forced him to move west. He moved to Colorado in 1957 where he joined the Colorado Air National Guard. He was stationed at Buckley Air Force Base where he served for six years and was honorably discharged in 1963 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He married Pearl Tregay in Boulder, CO on November 29th, 1959. John loved his garden, fishing and camping. He was a life member of Elks lodge where he rose through the chairs to Exalted Ruler. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Pearl and two sisters; Jean Pester (Bob) and Mary Wolff (Bob). He is also survived by three children; Jerry Slepicka (Marsha), Debbie Montgomery (Steve) and John Slepicka (Cheryl). He is further survived by seven grandchildren; Vanessa, Brandon and Jessie Slepicka, Rusty and Steven Montgomery and Nicole and Mariah Slepicka as well as several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday June 13, 2014 at Crist Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder, CO. Military honors by American Legion Post 32 of Longmont and Fraternal Committal by Elks Lodge 1055 of Longmont. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the "Saving the Milkshakes at the Boulder County Fair" project, write checks to the 4-H Youth Council with "Milkshake Fund" noted in the memo line, and mail in care of Kim Morrison 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent, Colorado State University/Boulder County 4-H Extension 9595 Nelson Rd.
