Arthur F. Baker StillwaterArthur F. Baker of Hudson Road passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at his residence with his loving family at his side. He was 88. Born on May 15, 1924 in Stillwater, son of the late Frank and Daisy (Crandall) Baker. He was born and raised in Bemis Heights. He is the husband of Helen (Sadowski) Baker, whom he married on September 6, 1948. Arthur served in the US Army from 1943-1945 in the European Theater. Following his service he was employed as a welder for the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. in Mechanicville until their closing in 1971. He was also employed at 656th Radar Squadron USAF radar station at Ketchum's Corners, Stillwater. Art retired in 1986 from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany where he worked for several years as a pipefitter leader. Art was a member of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge and the Earl J. Manning American Legion, Post 490 where he served as Grand Marshall in 2001. He also belonged to the Henry F. Lefco Post 1644 for several years. In addition to his wife, Helen, survivors include their children, Dawn Baker of Mechanicville, William Biff (Mary Ellen) Baker of Stillwater, Arthur P. Artie (Cathy) Baker of Stillwater, Kathy (Mike) Starks of Stillwater, Ronny (Raina) Baker of Mechanicville, Colleen Seymour of Mechanicville and Starlene (Greg) Manny of Stillwater; their grandchildren, Jenny (Joe) Bottisti, Michael Baker, Kayla Baker, Tessa Baker, Kylie Starks, Brittani Manny and Bailyn Manny; and great-grandchildren, Alaina Bottisti and Anthony Bottisti. Mr. Baker was predeceased by his grandson, Jeremy Seymour and his siblings, Clarence, Charles and Clifford Baker and Myrtle Figiel, Blanche Floyd, Mildred Walker and Ruth Dunn. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 26 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. Funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Stillwater. The family would like to thank the Community Hospice of Saratoga County and the staff at St. Mary's Hospital for their care for Art. Memorials in Art's honor may be made to the Earl J.
