Bartholomeo A. 'Bart' Caruso Sr. SchenectadyBartholomeo A. Caruso Sr. Bart, 82, of Lenox Rd. died peacefully while hunting on Saturday, November 24, 2012. Born in Schenectady, a lifelong resident residing on Goose Hill, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Carmella Ruggierio Caruso. Bart was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and was a U.S. Marine from 1948 to 1951. He married the former Doreen Salisbury on February 14, 1951. Bart worked for the Postal Service for over 35 years retiring in 1985. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Bart was a genuine Good Guy known throughout the Goose Hill Community. He was an outdoors type and enjoyed reading, fishing and hunting as his pastimes. Mr. Caruso was a member of the BPOE Lodge 2157. He was predeceased by his wife, Doreen, on July 2, 1987. Bart also was predeceased by his two daughters, Vicki Ngirailemensang (2001) and Nancy Closson (2007). Survivors include his son, Bart A. Caruso Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Mariaville; and his sister, Mary Ann Babe Pasquarella of Rotterdam. Bart leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Melissa (Joel) Pomeroy, Cassandra (Allen) Powell, Justine Caruso and Christopher Closson; great-grandson, Eliot Pomeroy; his son-in-law, Donald Closson; and several nieces and nephews. Bart also leaves behind his Light of his Life, Ann Polsinelli. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place, celebrated by the Rev. Richard A. Carlino. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend and may also call at the Glenville Funeral Home (www.glenville Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will take place in St . John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady. Contributions in Bart's name may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308.
