Earl J. LaBarge Rock City FallsEarl J. LaBarge, 93, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 30, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, NJ, March 28, 1920, he was the son of Claude and Anna Mae Garvey LaBarge. He was a Marine Corp veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre in the occupation of Guadal Canal and Guam. Following his military service he met the love of his life, Dorothy Murray. They married in 1948 and moved to Malta, NY. Earl was a welder and millwright for Tarrent Mills in Saratoga, Tagston Paper Mill in Mechanicville and retired from Sage in Stillwater in 1985. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Round Lake Rod and Gun Club, Old Saratoga Muzzle Loading Association, Fort Ticonderoga Muzzle Loading Association, and the Green Mountain Boys Muzzle Loading Association. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy; and his brother, George LaBarge. Earl is survived by his daughters, Earleen Van and Denise Rogner; his grandchildren, Shawn Van, Chad Rogner and Michelle Rogner; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wesley Evergreen Day Care Program, c/o Wesley Health Care Center, 131 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
