Frank Tralongo GuilderlandFrank Tralongo passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ficarazzi, Sicily on October 5, 1931 to Placido and Giuseppina Tralongo and immigrated to this country in 1947. He went back to Sicily in 1955 to marry Antoinette Macchiarella and returned to this country with his beautiful, young bride. Frank served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and upon his return began a career in the home-building business. In 1958, he established his own company, Frank Tralongo General Contractor, Inc. and began building homes in Niskayuna and Schenectady, as well as other surrounding areas. In the early 1960s, he bought a 200 acre parcel in the town of Guilderland and became one of the major developers and homebuilders in that community. Frank was a man of integrity, honesty and hard work. He remained a humble man always considering the needs of others more than himself. The talents and skills he was given helped him to achieve his lifelong dreams of being a good provider for his family. He always reminisced of the difficult times growing up in Sicily during World War II and the economic struggles that ensued after the war. He wanted to provide a better life for himself and his family. He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of nearly 58 years, Antoinette; his four children, Jo-Ann (Dale) Smith, Frank Tralongo, Jr. (Patti), Marilyn Tralongo, and John Tralongo, as well as 12 grandchildren, Frankie (Jennifer), Michael, Jaclyn, Dominic, Christopher (Grace-Ann), Danielle, Alexander, Andrea, PJ, Nicholas, Andrew, and Johnny; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Graziella. He is also survived by his sister, Nina Licciardi, and many nieces and nephews. Frank enjoyed traveling, gardening, watching the New York Giants, soccer, and playing Bocce on Vanderbilt Beach in Naples, Florida, where he resided during the winter months. He loved being surrounded by his family especially gatherings for Sunday meals. He has left behind a wonderful legacy, and he will be tremendously missed. You are welcome to join us in celebrating his life at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 28th at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Carmen Rd., Schenectady followed by a Mass at 11:30. Entombment will immediately follow at the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Capital Region, 139 S. Lake Ave., Albany, 12208.
