John P. Della Rocco NiskayunaJohn P. Della Rocco , 91, passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2014 surrounded by his loving friend and family after a long illness. He was happily married to Livia (Mammarella) Della Rocco for 67 years. He was born in Schenectady on October 4, 1922, a son of the late Joseph and Loretta (Squelia) Della Rocco. John served in the United States Army during World War II for six years and assisted in the invasion of Guadalcanal. After his return to civilian life, he attended Albany Business College. John was employed for 37 years at General Electric in finance and was member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of the DAV Chapter 88 and the American Legion Post 1002. He greatly enjoyed his camp in the summer and wintered in Florida. He was an avid fisherman and loved to travel. John is survived by his beloved wife, Livia; his sons, Paul of Massachusetts and John of Schenectady; his grandson, Jonathan Della Rocco of New Jersey and his granddaughter, Alian A. Ming Della Rocco of Massachusetts. A graveside service with full military honors will be held Monday, June 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Cyril's Cemetery, Duanesburg Road, Rotterdam.
