Judith Matthews Ballston LakeJudith Matthews, 78, of Phillips St., died suddenly on Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. She was born on October 25, 1935 in Albany, NY and was the daughter of the late William F. and Carol E. (Strohmaier) Ehrcke. Mrs. Matthews was a graduate of Albany High School and later received her teaching degree. She was a housewife and homemaker who lovingly raised five children. Prior to child rearing, she had worked as a primary elementary school teacher. Judy was a master gardener with a beautiful home garden. She also loved animals and especially enjoyed watching birds and the migration of Monarch butterflies. She was the loving wife of Donald E. Matthews; caring mother of Daniel L. (Sheri) Matthews of Ballston Spa, NY, Lori M. (Mike) Teoli of Guilford, NY, Linda C. (Trent) Allen of Burnt Hills, NY, Rose M. (Eric) Katz of Ballston Lake, NY and Kristine E. (Dave) Fisher of Wilton, NY; adoring grandmother of Jordan and Jamie Matthews, Michael, Gabe, Gottlieb and Christian Teoli, Victoria and Zach Allen, Lauren, Brittany and Elaina Katz and Jared and Alyssa Fisher; caring sister of William Ehrcke, Barbara Mollure, Mary Reid and the late Joan Fleming and George W. Ehrcke. Judith is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 9 a.m. at the Parkside Covenant Church, 14 Jarose Way, Clifton Park, NY. Interment will be at 1 p.m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to either the Parkside Covenant Church or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF).
