Leonard V. Damiano Jr. ColonieLeonard V. Damiano Jr., 73, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, in the loving arms of his wife, Sharon and with his family by his side. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Leonard V. Damiano Sr. and Helen Damiano. Lenny had resided in Colonie since 1988. He served in the New York State Army National Guard for nine years. He was co-owner of Len & Joe's Auto Sales in Schenectady for 30 years. Lenny was a life member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge #2157, a member of the 210th Armor Association and a certified New York State Motor Vehicle inspector. Lenny was the beloved husband of nearly 25 years to Sharon A. (Metz) Damiano. He was the father of Dennis (Marley) Damiano, Stefanie (Dan Cameron) Damiano and the late Leonard V. Damiano III and Amy Damiano Ray. He was the cherished stepfather of Kelly M. (David) Giminiani and David (Keiko) D'Agostino. Lenny was the Poppa of Dominique Damiano, David R. Giminiani and Seth, Brent and Miles D'Agostino. He was the brother of Peter Damiano, Mary Damiano-McGraw and Patricia Busch. Also surviving are many loved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:30 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
