Marian R. McGrath RotterdamPeacefully in the early morning of November 23, 2013, Marian entered into the gates of the eternal. Born April 7, 1923, in Boise, Idaho to Harold and Ruth Lewis, Marian was a longtime resident of Schenectady and a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Upon graduation Marian embarked on a career in accounting in the auto industry. She was employed by Franklin-Samler on Crane Street in Schenectady for nearly 20 years. When the company merged with Keller Motor Car in the early 1970s she worked as office manager in the accounting department for 14 years. In the later years of her accounting career she was an accountant for Rumors About Hair and The Metro Hair Station for a total of 25 years. Marian was a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1895. She served two terms as county council president of the Ladies Auxiliary and then served as treasurer for 50 years. Marian's passion was her dolls. She was a master at restoration of composition dolls and made reproductions of German and French dolls from the later 1800s. As a member of a local doll club, she would seek dolls needing restorations and then donate them to charity for needy children. The dolls were her joy and passion. Marian is survived by her three children, Phyllis Thompson (Cramer), George Cramer and Arthene LaValley. She is also survived by four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
