Michael U. Guerra Rotterdam Michael U. Guerra, 82, died Thursday morning, January 2nd at home in Rotterdam. Born and educated in Schenectady, Michael was the son of the Late Umbert and Mary (Vacca) Guerra. Michael was a 1949 graduate of Nott Terrace High School and received his bachelor's degree in sociology in 1963 from Siena College. A Navy veteran, Michael was a former pharmaceutical representative for Park Davis and Company for eight years and retired as a resource assistant for NYS Department of Transportation after 19 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace and was a former lecture and usher at the former Immaculate Conception Church. Michael was also a member of the Catholic Young Adult League and the Knights of Columbus. Michael is the beloved husband of 49 years of Lois Ann (Vacca) Guerra, who he married of February 8, 1964. He his also survived by his children, Michael U. Guerra Jr. of Valrico, Fl, Michele M. Schirmer (Michael) of Springfield, MA, and Mark D. Guerra of Rotterdam; a brother, Joseph Guerra of Lake George, NY; as well as his grandchildren, Sidney, Taylor and Jordan Schirmer. A service will be held on Tuesday morning, January 7th at 8:45 a.m. at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway, 7 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY followed at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 210 Princetown Rd., Schenectady where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
