Sandra Sprunger-Selby SchenectadySandra Sprunger-Selby, 67, a Schenectady, New York citizen for 42 years, passed quietly in her beloved home on March 31, 2014. Sandy was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She worked for many years in the social service and education fields, working closely with disadvantaged children throughout New York's Capital District Region. Most recently, Sandy volunteered at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish School in Schenectady. Sandy is an alumnus of the University of Iowa, LIU at C.W. Post, SUNY Albany, and the College of St. Rose. Sandy loved to travel to spend time with her grandchildren. She glowed as she told stories of first words spoken or lessons learned, and plain-old mischievous behaviors. Sandy's dedication to her sons was legendary. For a 30year span, she rarely missed one of her sons events. From grade school through college and thereafter, Sandy cheered in the stands. Over the years, Sandy was also considered a mother by numerous young people. She welcomed them into her home and treated them with great respect and compassion. She was born in Canton, Ohio to James and Dorothy Selby. Sandy is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Drew and Masako Spaulding of Arlington, TX, Maj. Patrick and Rahina Spaulding of Tacoma, WA, and Shane Spaulding and Nancy Guida of Brooklyn, NY. She also leaves six grandchildren, Ken, Leo, Sarah, Iman, David, and Sampson. Her kindness, endless compassion, and fantastic sense of humor will be greatly missed.
