Thomas J. Rodenmacher Jr. MayfieldMr. Thomas J. Rodenmacher Jr., 74, of Mayfield, passed away February 11, 2014 at River Ridge Health & Rehabilitative Facility in Amsterdam. Born December 12, 1939 in Schenectady, Mr. Rodenmacher was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse. Following completion of an apprenticeship in Saranac Lake, Tom accepted a position as licensed funeral director and eventually manager of the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home in Gloversville. Seeking to continue his education, Tom enrolled in classes at Russell Sage College and earned a BS degree in biology. He subsequently worked at the former Sterling Drugs in Rensselaer, NY from 1967 to 1993. Upon retirement, he worked part time at Chick Packaging and The Wildwood School. A longtime boating enthusiast, Tom was an active member of the Sacandaga Boating Club since 1972. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, watching NASCAR and fishing all seasons. Tom was a former member of the Lions Club, Eccentric Club and The Elks Lodge. He will be sadly missed. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hotaling Rodenmacher of Mayfield, whom he married July 14, 1962; his daughter, Deborah Crandall of Mayfield; two grandchildren, Amanda Crandall and Megan Crandall and several cousins. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville with the Reverend Kathy L. Reese officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the service. Burial will be in Vale Cemetery, Schenectady.
