Obituary Condolences

Almon Joseph Frost Almon Joseph "A.J." Frost died Dec. 29, 2012, at the age of 91. Mr. Frost was a lifelong resident of Deerfield and Northbrook. He spent his last two years at Addolorata Villa in Wheeling. A.J. was the owner-operator of Frost Hardware and Supply in Deerfield, serving the construction industry on the North Shore of Chicago for over 35 years. Al was a graduate of Deerfield Shields High School and the University of Illinois. He was a World War II veteran who attended the Naval Academy and left the Academy to become a naval aviator during the war and serve in the South Pacific. He was the leader of the Navy Sea Cadet program at Glenview Naval Air Station and retired as a commander from the Navy. Mr. Frost was a member of Holy Cross Parish since its inception. Al was an avid pilot, fisherman, golfer, gardener and bridge player during his life and in his retirement years. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl R. and Kathryn Frost; his brothers, E. Raymond and Edward Frost; and sister, Rose Frost Rugen. He was an extraordinary uncle to seven nieces and nephews and their families who survive him: Bill Rugen of Albuquerque, N.M., Rae Ann Frost Ewbank of San Jose, Calif., Fr. Pat Rugen of Waukegan, Dr. Ed Frost of Spartanburg, S.C., John Frost of Sterling, Va., Kathy Rugen Grubbe of Columbus, Ohio and Jim Frost of Johns Creek, Ga. A memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Dismas Church, Waukegan. Arrangements were made by Salata-Gurnee Funeral Home, Gurnee. For information, call 847-244-1155.
