Basil Nikiforak Basil Nikiforak, 68, was born Feb. 12, 1944, in Austria, raised in Chicago, and passed at his home in Mount Prospect on Sept. 13, 2012, surrounded by family. He was the devoted and cherished father of daughters, Lauren Nikiforak and Anna Nikiforak; loving brother of Lillian Calsi; and beloved son of the late Fedor Nikiforak and Anna Nikiforak. Basil was a dedicated veteran of the U.S. Army, Military Police, and a retired 24-year volunteer firefighter for Mount Prospect. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Basil may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth St., Santa Monica, CA 90401, www.pch.org. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 17, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Road (at Northwest Highway), Mount Prospect. He will be lying in state Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Raymond de Penafort Church, Elmhurst Road (Route 83) at Lincoln St., Mount Prospect.
