1943 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
David William Follman (Ross Thomas), 70, of Elgin, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born Sept. 28, 1943, in Elgin, the son of Willis and Ruth Franzen Follman. He graduated from Central High School in Burlington, Class of 1961, and attended Northern Illinois University and Michigan State University. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Pingree Grove. He was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie; his parents; and his brother-in-law, Patrick Culler. Survivors include brothers, Daniel (Carol) Follman of Burlington , Dennis (Susan) Follman of Sycamore and Dr. Dean (Dona Patrick) Follmann of Bethesda, Md.; his sister, Diane Culler of Orlando, Fla.; nephews, Danny (Julie) Follman of Sycamore, Nathaniel (Marissa) Follman of Plato Center, Dr. Christopher (Sheri) Culler of Winston-Salem, N.C, and Andrew Follmann of Oberlin, Ohio; nieces, Leanne Debbie Follmann of Hampshire and Clare Follmann of Olympia, Wash.; great-nieces, Savannah Follman L'Huilier, Ella Follman, Grace Follman and Cleo Culler; and great-nephew, Jude Culler. One of David's few joys in life were his nieces and nephews, who affectionately called him "Uncle R". David was an integral partmer in Follman Farms. His goal in life was to follow in the footsteps of his Uncle Ed Franzen and become a lawyer. Sadly that goal was never attained. But God's gift of eternal life is now his blessed reward. A private service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire. Family visitation will be held prior to the services from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Interment will be in Hampshire Center Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be directed to the Burlington-Hampshire Food Pantry or to the Salvation Army. For information, call 847-683-2711.
