IAN T. TURKULA Obituary
MUNDELEIN - Mass of Christian Burial for Ian T. Turkula, 18, is 11 AM. Saturday at St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church 236 Rt. 45, Indian Creek, IL. Visitation is Friday from 4-8 PM. at the Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (two blocks west of Route 45 on Route 176), Mundelein and one hour prior to mass on Saturday from 10-11 AM. at church. Ian was born July 14, 1995 in Lake Forest, IL. and died Sunday January 26, 2014 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Ian graduated Mundelein High School Summa Cum Laude in 2013. He was currently studying Architecture at the University of Minnesota. While in high school he played volleyball and soccer for MHS. He loved to ski, especially at Jackson Hole, WY., snorkeling and the Chicago Blackhawks. When he played for the AYSO, he was a "Buddy" with the Valerie Walker VIP Soccer Program (kids with special needs). Ian loved his family and his friends, he will be deeply missed. In his true spirit, Ian continues to help others through his organ donations with Gift of Hope so many others can benefit. He is survived by his parents Thomas and Grazina (nee Adomaitis) Turkula, his brother Adam, maternal grandmother Anna Adomaitis, several aunts, uncles cousins and friends and also his canine companion Jackson. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents William and Angela Turkula and his maternal grandfather Vytautas Adomaitis.
