Jean Mohr-Keehn Jean Mohr-Keehn, 87, passed away on Oct. 17, 2012 in Ocoee, Florida. She was born Feb. 6, 1925 in Chicago and was a former resident of Libertyville. Jean was a WWII veteran, having served with the U.S. Coast Guard. Having retired as a bookkeeper at Cook Memorial Library in 1991, she was able to spend more of her time doing what she enjoyed most. Volunteering at the Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago. For 21 years, Jean served as the American Legion Auxiliary representative at the facility, enriching the lives of our veterans. In l995, Jean received the North Shore Magazine Volunteer of the Year Award. In 2007, she was awarded the Silver Plate Award from the U.S. Department of Veteran Services. In February 2009, she was honored by the State of Illinois as the Veteran of the Month, having volunteered over 20,000 hours. Besides having served in the Lake County Veterans Assistance Commission and chaplain for the 10th District American Legion, Jean also previously served as Men's 10th District Legion Commander. She was also a member of the Libertyville American Legion Post and past president of it's auxiliary. When once asked to describe the motto she lived by, her answer was simply, "Anything is possible as long as you have your dreams, but don't expect them to come too fast." Surviving are 3 children, Gail (Frank) Niemi, Guy (Laura) Keehn and Grant (Kay) Keehn; 5 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marion E. Schwerman. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. on Sat. May 4, 2013 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home Ltd., 120 W.
