Obituary Condolences

Joanna M. McGuire a 24-year resident of Naperville Joanna M. McGuire (nee Kubick), 55, formerly of Chicago, IL, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family, after an eight-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born July 18, 1957, in Chicago, IL. She was the beloved wife of Michael X. McGuire, whom she married Dec. 21, 2002; loving stepmother of Meghan McGuire of Los Angeles, CA and Molly (Tim) Kane of Naperville; devoted daughter of Richard and Maureen (nee Curran) Kubick of Treasure Island, FL; dear sister of Jerry (Betty) Kubick of Naperville, Dennis (Patty) Kubick of Strongville, OH, Michael Kubick of St. Pete Beach, FL, Eddie (April) Kubick of North Carolina and the late Julia (Mark) Miller, her identical twin sister; and fond aunt of Michael and Shannon Miller, and Jason, Danny, Evan and Amanda Kubick. Joanna grew up in Chicago and Oak Lawn, IL, attended St. Gerald Catholic Grade School and was a graduate of Bogan High School. She received her nursing degree from Kent State University, Kent, OH and worked as a traveling nurse throughout the United States, while continuing her studies at Cleveland Clinic and Yale University, New Haven, CT. In recent years, Joanna worked with cancer patients at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL, and, for the last 10 years ran a chemotherapy clinic associated with the Advocate Hospital group in Chicago. Joanna was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and Naperville Country Club and its Ladies Nine Holer golf group. She was known for her artistic talents and operated "Heather & Hearts," a home decor company with her late sister, Julia. Joanna also loved to travel. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Services will begin Thursday, Oct. 18, at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville, with Rev. Don McLaughlin officiating. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
