JOHN ROBERT "JACK" JEFFERS Obituary
John Robert "Jack" Jeffers of Rolling Meadows John Robert Jeffers, "Jack", 80, passed away August 6, 2013 at the hospital, with his daughter by his side. Jack was born in Tipton, Iowa December 7, 1932 where he grew up on a farm. He was the son of Everett and Helen (Gregg) Jeffers. He graduated from University Of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa in 1956 with an electrical engineering degree. In 1962, he married Phyllis Chapp, a Chicago elementary school teacher. Jack worked for Western Electric (Teletype) and AT & T for 34 years in New York City but mostly in Illinois, after retiring in 1989. He lived the majority of his life in Mt. Prospect, Il and then Rolling Meadows, IL. During his work for AT&T, Jack got to travel to Egypt and Asia and enjoyed visiting other parts of the world. Jack enjoyed golfing, reading the newspaper, and playing bridge with friends. He loved to watch tennis and all sports. He enjoyed dogs. Jack was very up to date on pop culture. He was a great conversationalist, a good listener and advisor to many. He was always asked to give advice because he was practical and insightful. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen, father Everett, sister Patricia (Weisshaus) and brother James. Jack is survived by his daughter Lisa (Dennis) Lehuta of Bensenville IL and Laura (Drew) Hake of Sheboygan Falls WI; Loving grandfather of Daniel and Sarah Lehuta and Quinn and Trey Hake as well as nieces and nephews. A private graveside memorial will be held in Tipton, Iowa.
