DES PLAINES - Leonard J. Riccardi, Veteran US Army WWII. Passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 23, 2014 in Park Ridge IL, at the age of 90. He was born February 14, 1924 in Knox, IN. He studied violin at Lane Tech High School in Chicago and graduated in 1942. From March 1943 until December 1945, he proudly served as a regimental S-1 clerk with the Dixie Division 31st Infantry, stationed in the Pacific. There he formed a trio and entertained his fellow troops. Upon returning to Chicago, he studied International Trade at Northwestern University. In 1952 he married Patricia Simone and moved from Chicago to Des Plaines to raise a family. He had a long, accomplished career as Director of Avionics for AAR Corp. for the last 43 years. His passions were his family, work and of course music. He continued playing the violin with the family band, Relativity, until age 89, when his failing health prevented it.
