Obituary Condolences

Leonard Meyer of Mount Prospect Leonard Meyer, 101, passed away Oct. 29, 2012. He was born in New York City. Mr. Meyer graduated from Northwestern University McCormick School of Engineering in 1933, with a commission in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He served in the U.S. Navy 22 years and retired as a captain, USN. He worked for Kimberly-Clark Corp. as an industrial engineer and regional sales manager in the paper division. Leonard was a cruiser officer and spent five years at sea during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze and Silver Stars. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Genevieve. Survivors include his children, Roberta (Val) Rand, Anthony (Janet) Meyer and Jennifer (Frank) Chereck; a sister, Muriel Meyer; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 1, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Road, Mount Prospect. Funeral Friday, at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home, proceeding to St. Emily Church, for Mass at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
